Vol. II · Brave Enough to Stay
The Way She Let Me In
Jason POV
When silence finally found its courage.
The car door closed softly, sealing us inside a world of our own making.
Neither of us spoke at first.
She reached quietly for the ignition,
but before her fingers could fully settle,
I leaned over and gently caught her wrist.
She stilled instantly, eyes wide, searching mine.
I didn’t hesitate—not this time.
I kissed her with a clarity I’d never allowed myself before,
not tentative, not asking,
but with an openness that said: finally.
Her response was immediate,
her lips soft and certain beneath mine,
moving effortlessly, willingly.
I felt her tension dissolve beneath my touch,
her wrist relaxing, surrendering quietly.
We both knew there was no going back.
We didn’t hurry.
We didn’t say a word.
She drove us smoothly through streets washed in late-night quiet,
until we arrived at the hotel—
close enough for anticipation to pulse through every heartbeat.
The elevator rose in near silence,
lights dimmed, shadows soft,
her gaze fixed calmly on the numbers changing above us.
The hallway stretched out quietly,
and as she opened the hotel room door, she didn’t bother with the lights.
Inside, the darkness was comforting,
just the quiet sounds of breathing, the warmth of skin meeting skin,
and the unspoken acknowledgment of years finally resolved.
This time, she reached for me first.
Both hands pulling me closer, insistent, determined—
like she was silently making sure I wouldn’t slip away again.
It felt nothing like Hong Kong.
Not cramped or awkward or uncertain.
Here, her body met mine openly, naturally,
moving in harmony with a rhythm we both instinctively understood.
She guided me, arching into every touch,
inviting me to rediscover her, piece by piece.
I traced the contours of her with deliberate patience,
relearning every subtle curve, every soft sigh,
murmuring her name into her skin,
over and over again.
Our bodies spoke where words had failed,
a gentle dialogue of slow, deep, unhurried exploration,
a shared surrender to a desire we’d long denied.
When it ended, she curled gently into my side,
head resting softly on my arm,
her breath a warm whisper against my chest.
I felt her heart beating steady beneath my fingertips,
the quiet intimacy almost overwhelming.
But despite her warmth,
my mind started to wander.
Would morning change this?
Would we slip back into pretending,
as if tonight hadn’t altered everything?
I shifted slightly, wanting to ask,
wanting reassurance.
But when I looked down,
her breathing had already softened into the even rhythm of sleep.
Eyes closed,
face peaceful,
already somewhere far away.
And in that moment,
for once,
I chose not to chase the answers.
I simply held her tighter,
letting myself believe,
even if just for now,
that she would still be here in the morning.
